There are many risks when using social media as a formal educator. Firstly, using social media has been allowed in some schools as a part of the classroom curriculum and assessment. However, this has opened up new avenues of communication between the student and their teacher.
A teacher’s existing social media account can be used as the base of an allegation by the student and their family. Because of this, it’s important for young teachers to be aware of the guidelines surrounding social media usage.
